'Elite Hunting'- Hostel Motto
March 10, 2011
We arrived in L'viv and took a taxi to Hostel Shevchenko where we stayed for the next few nights. It was pretty funny because it was snowing really hard outside so our car kept drifting. I kept thinking the taxi driver was going to randomly start doing some donuts! I don't really enjoy driving on the snow because I always think I'm going to slide on the ice and die! Fortunately we made it to our Hostel donut free and safe =)
Check-In time is usually not until noon so we were planning on just chilling in the lobby until our room was ready but the front desk lady told us there was a room we could crash in. I was very grateful for this because the lobby was freezing, water was leaking through the roof, and I was so tired! The lady led us downstairs to what we thought was going to be our room... only to turn around again and head back upstairs. We were all pretty confused what was going on. Some of us started to notice the dazed/possessed look on this woman's face and realized that she was seriously drunk and did not know what she was doing. It was actually pretty entertaining because she had so much trouble talking and forming complete sentences. Somehow we got her to tell us that we were staying in room #11, but she did not know where it was located. We had some of the girls run upstairs to check if it was at the top and sure enough it was at the very top of the hostel. We hiked our way up the 80 step spiral staircase and crashed in the beds. There were 17 of us and only 14 beds so a few of us shared a bunk which was just fine because it was freezing anyway and the room was not heated. We woke up later and went downstairs to check in and front desk lady was a lot more focused and less drunk and was able to tell us that was our official room for the 2 nights we were staying there. We set up our bunks with sheets and blankets. The hostel ended up being pretty nice! They served us breakfast each morning (eggs with bread and butter and caviar), gave us extra blankets (because the heat in our room wasn't working), gave us a nice work out everyday (our room was at the very top), and it even had a standing shower (instead of just a tub)! All in all I thought we found a pretty elite hostel right in the middle of L'viv!
